Power Support Services Highlights

Conducted electrical testing on Unit Transformer (11BAT10) and Auxiliary Transformer (11BBT10) at the Kpone Thermal Power Station. Verified association protection relays for proper operation and coordination.

Reviewed petition regarding transmission towers and overhead conductors installation in Tema Free Zones area. Joint site visit conducted with MD; infrastructure confirmed as GRIDCo property. MD advised to pursue matter with GRIDCo.

Upon request from Engineering Services Department, the P&C Team assisted in configuring relay settings for high-voltage breakers for safe energisation of two substations. Configuration work is ongoing; final report will be issued upon completion.

Commenced repairs and maintenance on Transformer 4T7 at New Tema Substation. Scope includes oil draining, surface preparation, replacement of gasket seals and O-ring seals, transformer dehydration, oil circulation and general servicing and testing.

Provided technical assistance to TTPC on 4T7 Step-Up Transformer at New Tema Substation:

  • Replacement of all 12 radiator seals
  • Replacement of HV bushing gaskets
  • Transformer oil treatment to restore dielectric strength
  • Completion of electrical integrity tests with satisfactory results

Responded to request for rental of test equipment and technical support. Assisted with electrical integrity testing of primary substation equipment at AKSA Switchyard in Kumasi to verify operational readiness and compliance with standards prior to commissioning.

Provided technical assistance to TTPC in replacing defective Buchholz relay on 4T7 Step-Up Transformer. Following successful installation, transformer was energised and operational checks completed without incident. Unit handed over to Electrical Maintenance Unit of TTPC.

Successfully completed electrical integrity testing on switchyard equipment at 330kV AKSA Switchyard substation at Anwomaso, Kumasi. All test results reviewed, validated and confirmed within acceptable limits. Final test reports issued to Bentry Company Ltd.

Assisted A1GS in conducting electrical integrity testing on the 1T4 transformer. Tests completed in accordance with standard procedures with satisfactory results. Comprehensive test report prepared and issued to plant management.

Replating to reinforce pitted/worn bottom plates. Welding, marine paint, and anti-fouling coatings applied.
Carpentry Works
Maritime Clubhouse walkway decking replaced. Sight windows on MV Onipa Nua, Akosombo Queen, MV Volta Queen. Doors replaced on MV Tilapia and Akosombo Queen.
Flood Lights
Defective security light at MSU slipway replaced in November.
CD-Ada
Multiple perforations detected in hatches; precautionary beaching in October 2025.
Vessel Repositioning
MV Volta Queen and MV Onipa Nua used throughout the quarter as water levels receded.
Work Boat 3
Navigational services for ESD Bathymetric and reconnaissance Survey at Saddle Dam and Sedom.

Salinity and water quality tests in October, November, December for Public Health Unit.

57 coupling pins transported to AGS for rehabilitation.
